May 2019 Club Minutes


The May meeting of ACARC was held at CFCC on Tuesday May 21st. Vice president Larry Nutt (WM4N) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent radio activity.

Norman Clemmons read the minutes from last months meeting. Anita Jacobs gave the treasures report. Museum Ships Weekend on the battleship is June first and second. All members are urged to come out and help.

Field day is June 22 and 23 at Ogden park. Larry Nutt presented details on what to expect for field day. There was a discussion on having a fox hunt at a later date. Linwood Todd reported that there will be an ARRL VHF event on June 8 and 9. Steve Wilder reminded us of VE testing on June 8. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm.

April 2019 Club Minutes


The April 2019 meeting of ACARC was held on Tuesday April 16 at CFCC. Linwood Todd (NT4F) opened the meeting at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent radio activity. Norman Clemmons read the minutes from last months meeting. Jack Jacobs gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing. There were four VE testers present and five people received license. Allan Pellnat reported on battleship activity. Linwood Todd reported on our repeaters. Both repeaters are working fine. We were reminded that field day is June 23 & 24.

Jack Jacobs presented a very detailed program on Log Book Of the World. The program was well received with a lot of discussion. There being no more business the meeting was adjourned at 8:10.

March 2019 Club Minutes


The March,2019 meeting of ACARC was held at CFCC on March 19,2019. President Pete Long (WB3FYR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person in attendance gave a short report on recent radio activity. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from last months meeting.

Alan Pellnat (KX2H) reported on Battleship activity. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing. The next testing will be on Saturday April 13, 2019. Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL)gave the treasures report. Bill Morine (N2COP) reported on news from ARRL pertaining to new frequencies opening up for technicians on HF.

The dates for field day this year is June 23rd & 24th. Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) will see about reserving the shelters in Ogden park. Linwood Todd (NT4F) presented a program on ACARC logging software. There are many ways of logging contacts and everyone enjoyed the presentation. There being no more business the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.

February 2019 Club Minutes


The February meeting of the ACARC was held on February 19, 2019 at CFCC. President Pete Long (WB3FYR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent radio activity.

Linwood Todd (NT4F) reported on our repeater. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from last months meeting. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on last months VE testing. Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) gave the treasures report.

This years NC QUSO will be held from the Battleship on Sunday, February 24 from 1000 am until everyone gets tired. All members are encouraged to come out and help make this year a success. If you need to find the radio room call on the repeater 147.18 and someone will come and escort you down. Some are going to K&W for breakfast at 0830 and arrive at ship by 0930. We were reminded that field day will be here soon so begin to make plans to participate.

President Pete Long presented a program on digital communication called WSJTX. The program was very detailed and was enjoyed by all. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 0830.

January 2019 Club Minutes


The January meeting of ACARC was held on January 15, 2019 at CFCC. President Pete Long (WB3FYR) called the meeting to order at 6:45. Everyone present introduced themselves and gave a brief report of recent radio activity. Included in this each person cited their favorite piece of radio equipment.

Allan Pellnat (KX2H) reported on last months activity on the battleship. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported that there were eight people taking license tests and that nine VE testers were present. The next VE test will be on February 9, 2019. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from November's meeting. Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) gave the treasures report.

We have 64 members signed up compared to 46 last year. Bill Morine (N2COP) asked for ham radio volunteers to help demonstrate radio techniques to the boy scouts for their attempt to get a radio merit badge. The event will be held on January 26,2019 at the Church of Latter Day Saints located 514 south college road from 9AM to 3PM. Lunch will be included for Ham Radio Volunteers.

Larry Nutt (WM4N) discussed having a QSO, UHF, VHF contest sometime later. Pete Long presented a program on how to build a bathroom antenna that works very well. The meeting was adjourned 8:15 pm.
