Nov. 2017 Club Minutes


The November 2017 meeting of ACARC was held on Tuesday, November 21 at CFCC. President Julian Bradbeery (WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm Everyone present gave a brief report on recent radio activity.

Norman Clemmons read the minutes from last month. Anita Jacobs (KG4ILL) gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported that VE testing would be on December 9, 2017. Allan Pellnat (KX2H) reported on Battleship activity. Quest operators and HO HO HO for Christmas kids is about all that's going on at the Battleship this month. There was no report on health and welfare.

A vote was taken on the officers nominated at October's meeting and all were approved. The club voted to postpone action on the request to buy a projector until January's meeting.

Linwood Todd (NT4F) is going to present some new information on Monday night ragchew. Members are requested to join in at 9:00 pm next Monday night. Do not forget our Christmas party on Dec 5 at Henry's at 6:00 pm. There being no more business the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.

Oct. 2017 Club Minutes


The October meeting of ACARC was held on October 17, 2017 at CFCC north campus. President Julian Bradberry (WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Everyone present gave a brief account of recent radio activity. There were several new people in attendance.

Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from Septembers meeting. Anita Jacobs(KG4IIL) gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing that were given this month. Several people obtained their technician and general license. Linwood Todd (NT4F) reported on battleship activity. We had a hidden tour and several quest operators.

Officers were nominated for 1918. Julian Bradberry (WD4FTR) president, Larry Nutt (N4NXX) vice president, Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) secretary, Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) treasurer. Our Christmas party will be held at Henrys restaurant on December 5.

The club voted to give our newsletter writer Jeff Bixby (W4BIX) a $50 dollar gift for outstanding work. There was a motion to check on prices for a projector and vote on it in November. John Paul (N1JPL)gave a program on software defined radio. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.

Sept. 2017 Club Minutes


The September meeting of the ACARC was held at CFCC on September 19, 20117. President Julian Bradbury (WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent radio activity.

Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from last month. They were approved. Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) gave the treasures report. Allan Pellnat reported on Battleship activity. We have a hidden tour on October 7. The battleship crew will handle it.

We still need to come up with a place to hold our meetings. Any suggestions from members will be great. Nominations for officers for 2018 will need to be taken care of in Octobers meeting and voted on in November.

We have our annual Christmas party in December in place of our regular meeting. Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) presented a program on WSPR. This is a program using your computer with 5 watts of power or less to see if other stations can hear you. The program was well received by all, The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.

Aug. 2017 Club Minutes


The August meeting of ACARC was held on Tuesday, August 15 at CFCC north campus. President Julian Bradbury ( WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Everyone in attendance gave a brief report on their recent radio activity.

Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) presented the minutes of last months meeting. The minutes were read and approved. Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on last months VE testing. No one showed up for testing. This is a first for our testing. Jack Jacobs (WD4ION) reported on battleship activity. The only thing happening is some guest operators have come over to make some contacts from the ship. It is to hot to do anything else on the ship. Linwood Todd (NT4F) reported on recent repeater work at the hospital. We have to have hospital security with us when we work on the repeater.

Linwood Todd (NT4F) gave a program on Wallpaper. This is getting certificates for making contacts to special event stations. The program was enjoyed by all present. There being nothing else on the meeting it was adjourned at 8:00 pm.

July 2017 Club Minutes


The July 2016 meeting of ACARC was held at CFCC on Tuesday, July 18. President Julian Bradbury (WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent Ham radio activity.

Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) gave the minutes from June's meeting. Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing. The next test will be given on August 12. Allan Pellnat (KX2H) reported on battleship activity. He also had some old radio pictures he showed to the club.

President Bradbury thanked all who participated in field day this year. It was simple and everyone had a great time. Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) requested that the club purchase a couple of band filters for the battleship. We have problems with interference on the 20 meter and 40 meter bands due to the close proximity of the antennas. The club voted and approved the purchase of two filters.

We have to notify the newspaper at least two weeks prior to our meeting to have it placed in the paper. We also need someone to co-ordinate with CFCC about reserving a room for our monthly meetings. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.

June 2017 Club Minutes


The June Meeting of ACARC was held on Tuesday, June 20 at CFCC. Julian Bradberry (WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. All present gave a brief overture of recent radio activity. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from May's meeting. Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) gave the treasures report.

Allan Pellnat (KX2H) reported on Battleship activity. He reported that the club made 571 contacts on Museum Ships Weekend. Discussions on the boy scouts and Jota are being analyzed on using the battleship for merit badges and training. Some old radios from a ship used in WW2 are being donated to the battleship on Friday, June 23.

Field day is Saturday, June 24 from 1200 noon to 8:00 pm at Ogden park shelter 2. Norman Clemmons is handling starting up our Monday night rag chew on the net Monday night at 9:00 pm. The date is June 26. Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) presented a program on how to log contacts on a computer. Very interesting and were provided some hands on to help.

May 2017 Club Minutes


The May meeting of the ACARC was held at CFCC on Tuesday, May 16,2017. President Julian Bradbury(WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Each person present gave a brief update of recent radio activity. Secretary Norman Clemmons read the minutes from April's meeting. Jack Jacobs(WD4OIN) gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder(AJ4JJ) reported that the next VE testing is in June.

Field day has been confirmed to be held at Ogden Park the last Saturday in June. We have reserved shelter 2 for our event. The club plans on operating from 2:00 pm until 8:pm. Members need to arrive around 1230 to help set everything up. Larry Nutt is taking care of the food along with Julian Bradbury.

John Paul provided a program on how to make connectors for power leads and other connections. He showed a video by Anderson which gave details. Next month Jack Jacobs is going to present a program on how to login calls. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10.

Apr. 2017 Club Minutes


The April 2017 ACARC meeting was held on April 18, 2017. Linwood Todd (NT4F) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Norman Clemmons read the minutes from March. Anita Jacobs(KG4IIL) gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder(AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing. He had 4 people taking tests, 2 technician and 2 general.

The club had about 71 contacts during the Azalea Festival special event. Linwood has placed the repeater in place but there seems to be a problem between the controller and the repeater. He is going to take care of it.

The battleship crew has a hidden tour on April 29,2017. There is still some problems with where to hold field day this year. We will find a location and it was suggested that we keep it simple. Maybe we will operate for just 6 hours on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm. There was no program for this meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.

Mar. 2017 Club Minutes


The March meeting of ACARC was held at CFCC on Tuesday, March 21. President Julian Bradbury(WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent HAM radio activity. Norman Clemmons(KI4YSY) read the minutes from Februarys meeting. Anita Jacobs(KG4IIL) gave the treasures report. Allan Pellnat(KX2H) reported on battleship activity. George Morse(KM4DSI) resigned from writing the news letter and taking care of health and welfare. Steve Wilder(AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing.

The next testing will be on April 8, 2017. A discussion on where to hold field day this year was brought up. Ogden park has some drawbacks. Members were requested to explore other sites and report back next month. Linwood Todd(NT4F) reported the new repeater is ready to be placed on NHMH roof. He needs some help getting it in place. John Paul presented a program on modulation for digital modes.

Feb. 2017 Club Minutes


The Feburary meeting of the acarc was held at CFCC on the 11th . President Julian Bradbury called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent ham radio activity. Norman Clemmons read the minutes from last months meeting. Steve Wilder reported on VE testing. George Morse reported on health and welfare and our news letter. Anita Jacobs gave the treasures report. Allan Pellnat reported on battleship activity. Febuary 26 will be the NCQSO party. All members are encouraged to come the battleship and help operate the radios. There was a motion made to give new technician free membership for a year or a new radio if they will join the club. Motion was passed. Larry Nutt agreed to head up our social events. Linwood Todd reported that the new repeater was here. The club agreed to transfer $200 to NI4BK for expenses. He also reminded the club of our special event for the azalea festival on April 6-9. John Paul presented a program on the different types of modulation. The meeting adjourned at 8:45.

Jan. 2017 Club Minutes


The January Meeting of ACARC was held on Tuesday, January 17 2017 at CFCC. President Julian Bradbeery (WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Linwood Todd (NT4F) suggested the club purchasing a VHF repeater if the price is right. He also brought up our participation in the Azalea Festival Special Event. The club voted and approved both motions. There was no program for this meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.
