February 2019 Club Minutes
The February meeting of the ACARC was held on February 19, 2019 at CFCC. President Pete Long (WB3FYR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent radio activity.
Linwood Todd (NT4F) reported on our repeater. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from last months meeting. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on last months VE testing. Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) gave the treasures report.
This years NC QUSO will be held from the Battleship on Sunday, February 24 from 1000 am until everyone gets tired. All members are encouraged to come out and help make this year a success. If you need to find the radio room call on the repeater 147.18 and someone will come and escort you down. Some are going to K&W for breakfast at 0830 and arrive at ship by 0930. We were reminded that field day will be here soon so begin to make plans to participate.
President Pete Long presented a program on digital communication called WSJTX. The program was very detailed and was enjoyed by all. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 0830.
January 2019 Club Minutes
The January meeting of ACARC was held on January 15, 2019 at CFCC. President Pete Long (WB3FYR) called the meeting to order at 6:45. Everyone present introduced themselves and gave a brief report of recent radio activity. Included in this each person cited their favorite piece of radio equipment.
Allan Pellnat (KX2H) reported on last months activity on the battleship. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported that there were eight people taking license tests and that nine VE testers were present. The next VE test will be on February 9, 2019. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from November's meeting. Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) gave the treasures report.
We have 64 members signed up compared to 46 last year. Bill Morine (N2COP) asked for ham radio volunteers to help demonstrate radio techniques to the boy scouts for their attempt to get a radio merit badge. The event will be held on January 26,2019 at the Church of Latter Day Saints located 514 south college road from 9AM to 3PM. Lunch will be included for Ham Radio Volunteers.
Larry Nutt (WM4N) discussed having a QSO, UHF, VHF contest sometime later. Pete Long presented a program on how to build a bathroom antenna that works very well. The meeting was adjourned 8:15 pm.
