Nov. 2016 Club Minutes


The November meeting of ACARC was held Thursday November 15 2016 at CFCC. President Julian Bradbeery (WD4FTR)called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.

Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) gave the minutes from last month. Allan Pellnat (KX2H) gave the treasures report. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing. George Morse (KM4DSI) reported on health and welfare.

Barnes and noble outing was a success.

Our officers for 2017 are Julian Bradbeery WD4FTR, Jean Paul Louis (N1JPL) Vice President, Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) secretary, Anita Jacobs (KG4IIL) treasure, Allan Pellnat (KX2H) battleship liaison.

Bill Morine (N2COP) gave us a program on ham radio remote operation. A very interesting presentation. Do not forget the dinner meeting next month on the 6th of December at the Olive Garden at 6:00pm.

Oct. 2016 Club Minutes


The October 2016 meeting of the ACARC was held on Tuesday, October 18 at CFCC. President Julian Bradberry (WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person in attendance gave a brief summary of recent ham radio activity.

Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes from last meeting. George Morse ( KM4DSI) reported on health and welfare and the newsletter.

Karen Weatherill ( WA4CR) reported on the boy scouts event that was held at scout headquarters on Longstreet Avenue in Wilmington. The scouts enjoyed talking on our ham radios.

Under old business we still do not have a battleship coordinator. Also the club is in the process of a plaque for Charlie Vaughn our former president.

Under new business Barnes and Noble will put on a program featuring ham radio activity.

Linwood Todd (NT4F) presented a program on a Antenna analyzer. It is called an MFJ 269 HF/VHF/UHF swr analyzer. This tester will do many other things also.

There being no more business the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.

Sept. 2016 Club Minutes


The September meeting of ACARC was held at CFFCC on Tuesday September 20, 2016. Julian Bradberry(WD4FTR) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent ham radio activity. Allan Pellnat gave the treasures report. Jeff Bixby (W4BIX) reported on battleship activity. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes of last meeting. Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing. George Morse (KM4DSI) reported on health and welfare.

Under old business the club decided not to pursue finding a storage facility for the clubs equipment. We do not have that much equipment to warrant a facility at this time.

Bill Morine (N2COP) reported on the bill in congress concerning erecting antennas in HOAs. He also reported on the Shelby Hamfest he recently attended.

Linwood Todd (NT4F) gave a program on the different types of antennas. The comparisons of how efficient the different antennas was discussed in depth.

Aug. 2016 Club Minutes


The August meeting of ACARC was held at CFCC on Tuesday August 16, 2016. Vice President Linwood Todd (NT4F) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent ham radio activity.

Jeff Bixby (W4BIX) reported on battleship activity. Very little going on because of heat. George Morse (KM4DSI) reported on health and welfare. Allan Pellnat (KX2H) gave the treasures report.

James Kapetsky (K3DEP) and David McGough (KB4FXC) presented pictures of field day. Bill Morine (N2COP) reported on the status of ARPA in congress. This is a bill to help ham radio operators erect antennas in HOA.

Julian Bradberry (WD4FTR) presented a program on the dangers of EMP (electromagnetic power). Everyone present enjoyed this presentation There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm.

July 2016 Club Minutes


The July meeting of ACARC was held on July 19,2016 at CFCC. Vice President Linwood Todd (NT4F) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. All hams present gave a brief Report on recent radio activity. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) resd the minutes from The May meeting. Allan Pellnat (KX2H) gave the treasures report. Bill Morine (N2COP) Reported on a board meeting he attended for ARRL. A new CEO has been elected and many changes are underway. More money will be spent to update software and other equipment.

Under new business Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) suggested we try to obtain a storage building to house all of the clubs equipment. As of now our equipment is scattered everywhere. Many pieces may never be located.

This item will be discussed at the August meeting. Jack Jacobs (WD4OIN) presented a program on county hunting that he did out west while traveling this year. Everyone present enjoyed this program. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:25.

June 2016 Club Minutes


The June meeting of acarc was held on June 21, 2016 at cfcc north campus. Vice president Linwood Todd (NT4F) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Each person in attendance reported on recent ham radio activity. Norman Clemmons (KI4YSY) read the minutes of May meeting.

Allan Pellnat (KX2H) gave the treasures report, Jeff Bixby (W4BIX) gave a report on recent Battleship activity and Museum ships. Weekend resulted on around 348 contacts total.

Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) reported on VE testing.

Jeff Bixby gave a report on the new email reflector. It will be up the first of July.

David McGough (KB4FXC) gave a demonstration of a new testing device that is Relative cheap and works great. He further reported on preparations for field day, which is the last weekend in June. All hams are encouraged to come out and Help make field day a success.

May 2016 Club Minutes


On Tuesday, May 17 the ACARC held it's monthly Meeting at CFCC. Julian Bradberry (WD4FTR), open the meeting at 7:00pm. Each person present gave a brief report there recent ham activity.

Allan Pelnat (KX2H) gave the treasury report. Jeff Bixby (W4BIX) reported on battleship activity. Museum Ships Weekend is June 4-5. David McGough (KB4FXC) , gave a report on field day which will be held the last weekend in June.

Linwood Todd was nominated and approved to be Vice-President for the remainder of the year.

Harvey Hutchinson (NK0S), gave a presentation on membership statistics and getting new hams. A very good discussion ensued with many members expressing idea's on getting new members.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm.

Feb. 2016 Club Minutes


The Febuary meeting of the ACARC was held on Tuesday, Febuary 16,2016 at CFCC. Vice president Harvey Hutchinson (NKOS) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Allan Pellnat (KX2H) gave the treasures report. There are still about half the membership that has not paid there dues for this year.

Steve Wilder (AJ4JJ) gave a report on.VE testing. Jeff Bixby (W4BIX) gave a report on battleship activity. The NCQSO party will be held on Febuary 29.

Vice president Harvey Hutchinson (NK0S) has all the info on this years Field Day. Also he can order t-shirts with the clubs logo if anyone is interested.

Jean-Paul (N1JPL) presented a program on DIY Stealth Antennas.

Jan. 2016 Club Minutes


The January meeting of the acarc was held on Tuesday January 19 at CFCC. Vice President Harvey Hutchinson (NKOS) called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Each person present gave a brief report on recent ham radio activity.

There will be a meeting next week on our field day preparations for this year.

The following items were discussed for activities the club will under take this year. NC qso party feburary, Parks on the air in april, Pearl Harbor day in December, Memorial ships weekend in july, PPD ironman in October, and Azalea Festival in April.
